Belonging to the highland region from north to south is the Guanacaste volcanic chain which runs northwesterly from the Arenal lake. Also belonging to this region are the Arenal Volcano and the Monteverde mountains (southeasterly from the Arenal sea), the volcanoes and mountains around San José as well as the Talamanca mountain range which runs to the Panama. The highest elevation in Costa Rica is the Chirripo with it’s over 3800 meters. It is part of the Talamanca mountain range.
