Hiking through the Corcovado National Park rain forest under kapok trees up to 60m, seeing apes swinging from branch to branch, admiring the colorfulness of scarlett macaws or viewing croodiles majestically gliding through water, these are just a few options offered to the visitors.

The Marino Ballena National Ocean Park is the home of many seabirds and, due to several coral reefs, also a colorful underwater world. Dolphins and whales can be observed here at various seasons and are further attractions which delight nature lovers. From the sea there’s a superb view over lonely palm-covered beaches up to the softly-winding Talamanca mountain chain that forms the background setting.

Regardless if going by boat or by foot, everyone who comes here dives into a unique experience of a frequently unspoiled nature. Then there’s much to tell in the evenings when one sits in one of the many nice hotels and lodges and shares his experiences with other guests.

And now it’s easier to experience all of this: thanks to the new road from San José to Caldera and the completion of Costanera Sur to Palmar Sur, the drive is much quicker and more comfortable.
