Costa Rica – „Rich Coast“
The Spanish Conquerors called the small country between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans “Rich Coast ” in anticipation of finding gold treasures there. They found no gold but, ironically, the name proved to be correct in a different way. The treasure which is found in Costa Rica consists primarily of a large number of animals and plants. Around 500,000 animal and plant species are to be found here averaging ten times more than the amount found in Switzerland; a country equal in size to Costa Rica.
